I read this and automatically felt a sense of pride in the young writer and can agree with all she is saying because unfortunately it is sadly true ..

I’m Janita Patrick, a 15-year-old African-American female from Cincinnati. Recently, I watched the 2009 BET Awards and felt the strongest urge to reach out to the program. My family is of the typical middle-class variety; both parents and four brothers. See, I'm a junior in high school (got skipped), so naturally EVERYBODY in my age group watches BET. I'm used to seeing the sagging pants, tattoos, lack of emphasis on reading and respecting women that makes up your videos. People in my class live this out everyday, while teachers tell us that we're acting just like the people in your shows.


In your shows. That struck me as odd, because I would think that with your show being the primary outlet for black entertainers and musicians, and considering the context of blacks in this country, there’s a social responsibility factor to consider. I would never blame BET alone for the way a great deal of my classmates act and talk and dress. Everybody makes their own choices. However, if anybody is aware the power of television on impressionable minds, it’s the people running the television operations. If you are not aware, then perhaps you shouldn't be running the operations.


Guess who watches your network the most? Not those who are intelligent enough to discern foolishness from substance, but those who are barely teenagers, impressionable and believing. It’s awfully cruel to plant seeds of ignorance in fertile minds. You know it’s really bad when the co-founder of BET, Sheila Johnson, said that she "really doesn't watch it" anymore.


I am constantly fighting against the images and messages put forth on your program. What made you think that it’s okay to bring my classmates on stage to dance behind Lil Wayne and Drake to a song talking about boffing "every girl in the world"? Why does reality train wrecks have to thrown in our faces? Are you aware of the achievement gap going in inner-city African-American communities? A report from America’s Promise Alliance, a non-profit group started by Colin Powell, recently stated that 47 percent of high school students in the nation’s top 50 cities don't graduate. (Fifty-four percent of males of color in Ingham County graduated from high school, compared to 74 percent of white males). This isn’t because of BET per se, but I don’t see any episodes on your show doing anything to counteract this disturbing trend. In fact, your show is a part of this cycle of media depicting us at our worst.


My older brother told me something about profit being the number one goal for every business. I’m not sure I understand what that means, but I do know that your shows have to be entertaining enough to generate viewers, which is how you make your money. But surely our culture is rich enough to entertain without anything extra to "boost" ratings; why the over-the-top foolery? I listen to classmates talk about Baldwin Hills like it’s the Manhattan Project. It doesn’t take much effort to produce a throng of degenerative reality shows, nor does it take much to eliminate socially conscious shows off the air. MTV isn’t much better, but since when does two wrongs ever make a right? It’s one thing for white television shows to depict us in a particular way, but for black television shows to do it is baffling.


Why do you hate us? All of the values that my parents seek to instill in me and my brothers seems to be contradicted by a more powerful force from the media, and your show is at the forefront. Your network is the only network that features rap videos and shows exclusively to children of my color. I know that you have no control over the music that the artists put out, but you do have influence as to how you air these videos. I'm sure if a stand was taken to use the talent in your organization to actually crank out thought-provoking entertaining shows and videos, then artists will follow suit. Being that they need you as much as you need them.


There was one awkward segment in the BET Awards when Jamie Foxx singled out three black doctors-turned-authors, but the introduction was so powerless that many of the viewers had no idea who they were. Had they been introduced as Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins, three brothers who overcame major obstacles to become a success without the use of lyrics that berate women, the sell of substance that destroy communities or through raps about loose gunplay, then maybe my classmates would have come to school talking about more than Beyonce, T-Pain’s BIG ASS CHAIN and Soulja Boy Tell Em’s hopping out the bed.


But they weren’t introduced like that. It seemed like a throwaway obligatory tribute to appease some irritated fans. It missed the mark. Big time. Ask Michelle Obama if she watches BET or encourages Sasha and Malia to do so. Ask President Obama. It’s a reason he is the leader of the free world, and it isn’t because of Buffoonery Exists Today.


You’d be surprised how smart young black children can be with the absence of Blacks Embarrassing Themselves. If your goal is to deter engaged, forward-thinking articulate black minds, then consider your goal fulfilled. It’s hard-pressed to think that your shows are working to promote cultural betterment. However, it’s quite easy to conclude that the destruction of black children through the glorification of immoral behavior and rushed production is by design. Poison is being swallowed by every viewer who adores your network, and the worse thing is, these viewers - my classmates - are not even aware what they’re swallowing.


There is nothing edifying for black women on your show. I don’t judge people who do throng to your programs though; I mean, if a jet crashes in right in front of me, I’ll watch it too. That’s why I don’t flip by your channel…I don't even want to be sucked in.


I have aspirations of acquiring a law degree and possibly entering the public sphere, so I can counteract conditions in my community perpetuated by the images on your channel. So I should thank you, because in a weird sense, your shoddy programming is the wind behind my back. And it is my hope that I can accomplish my dreams despite BET’s pictorial messages, because Lord knows it won’t be because of them.

iPod

I just thought that I would pay homage to my iPod .. it is really the best thing ever. I have an iTouch and it's pretty much a handheld computer music player LOL I love everything about it!

I can recall being very anti Apple products however over time and rave reviews have forced my interest to looking more into Apple products. So I started with an iPod nano 2nd generation .. that's when I fell in love LOL! Shortly after I got my first iBook and man if I wasn't sold by then I guess all the hoopla was spot on because I was hooked!

My most recent purchase was the iTouch and again I am not disappointed I think I am finally done (for now) until or unless something really cool comes out that I must have until then I have what I have. For those of you who don't leave home without it .. I understand .. rock on!

Random Ramblings ..

Ok so I’m not sure if any of you know that I had long locks up until last October then cut my hair very short, why in the winter I don’t know but I did it. So now I have a very low cut that I am starting to see is becoming quite the norm now a days .. check out Solange in her similar cut ..



Looks good but I agree with what people told me .. a cut that short needs some color. So perhaps some color will make this look that much better. I admit I was a bit skeptical .. but then again not too much. I have done drastic cuts in the past so this should not be new to anyone except for those who don’t really know me. But overall I love my cut .. it’s liberating in a sense, it’s so easy to get out of the house and it’s free of chemicals. I have been without a perm for the last 10 years and I am proud to say I am not a slave to the perm .. lol .. no offense to any of you who are .. you have your reasons I know!

I know I’m no Solange but I think it looks pretty good .. lol quite a drastic change from very long locks but it works for me! No fahsion statement or anything just wanted to do something different .. funny how after I cut mine I started noticing so many others with a similar cut .. funnier how I had not noticed them before though i'm sure they were always there .. lol!

Anyway moving right along .. I was in the bathroom the other night and the strangest thought came to mind .. my menstrual period. Now I was not thinking about when it’s coming or anything like that but I was wondering just when in the hell did someone decide that women need to have a period .. and just ho far back in history is knowledge of a lady’s period noted? Weird thought I know but I was just wondering .. I mean could there be truth to the fact that Eve ate the apple and now we woman are doomed to bleed once a month from puberty through menopause? If so I wanna see something in writing .. lol .. kidding!

Another thought on my mind is the Onstar commercials that come on from time to time. These commercials cmtfu .. I mean why is it that during whatever emergency the chick, and its usually a chick has to sound so damn pathetic and helpless. I mean I am beginning to think that they do this on purpose. Just like in those stupid infomercials when they sell stuff they make shit look so much worse than it is .. I mean really how many times do you let your bathroom get that damn dirty before cleaning it. You ever notice that .. the shit in the bathroom be caked up for days then the infomercial dude comes out of no where and has the answer for every damn thing and can clean up just about any mess with his “wonder product” .. cracks me up!

Alright I guess that’s about enough of my rambling … just had some stuff on my mind is all . I really have to find more time to blog .. I really enjoy it but work and life can be so overwhelming at times .. any who .. later bloggers!

The Greater Entertainer Ever!

I felt compelled to do this tribute blog to Michael as I realize that news of his death has hit home and has hit hard. I know i'm not saying anything that hasn't been said already but I felt like sharing. I grew up with Michael, my parents were fans of his and thus love of his music came naturally. As I got older so did Michael but never at any time did I shy away from listening to his latest tracks. Despite his eccentric nature at times I always believed in Michael and knew in my heart of hearts that he was here for a reason and not a season.

Michael has been a staple in my family so much so that I married a hue fan of Michaels as well as raised two young daughters that to this day still enjoy seeing the old and the new Michael Jackson videos .. we can probably do most of the dance steps in any one of this videos .. lol .. and simply enjoy listening to what today is missing .. good music! I can recall being home when I was younger and the entire families eyes being glued to the television when he was on .. or the entire family crooning to Jackson 5 hits that to this day can make a grown man shake his body down to the ground .. I mean there are no words that explain the impact that this man had on the lives of many worldwide.

In all my years of living I have never known a more fascinating entertainer who not only was a remarkable performer but who was also a fascinating selfless person who gave more in charity than I’ve ever seen or heard of .. he was the true definition of charitable, he was the true definition of perfection, he was the true example of realism and sincerity .. I will always cherish all memories of Michael from me imitating him myself to just loving all of his music and heart .. he was truly a good man and I will miss his genuine spirit forever and always! Michael seemed like the kind of guy that you would love to meet so down to earth so caring and loving .. a quality you don’t find in most people you meet now a days .. a friend in my head and heart .. it just saddens me that even in his passing he is still ridiculed .. smh .. but I know that despite that Michael is smiling down on us from the heavens above and I pray that God keeps him close so that heaven too can have the pleasure of his presence as we have here on Earth .. I love you Michael .. R.I.P.

What Would You Do?

So I was in Quizzno’s and by the way this was my very first visit and I am so not feeling them .. all that hype for a little ass no meat sandwich .. any who!  I’m in there ordering that lame ass sandwich when I recognize a chick, well she recognizes me, we hug and exchange small talk you know the usual. Now here’s where it gets interesting, we’re in Montclair which is not too far from where we live and she’s in there with some dude.

I know this chick and her MAN and their baby, pretty little girl, the dude she is with is not her man. I wanted to come right out and ask but I’m not one to embarrass or point out the obvious so I say .. “you work up here now,”  that question of course was a segway into the next topic of where in the hell is your man and who is this dude you with .. but really I didn’t care it was just a bit awkward me knowing the both of them you know. So she kinda avoided the question, I laughed on the inside like damn bitches ain’t shit .. then I laughed again at me even thinking that but I did!

So I'm wondering what do you say to someone in that situation, or does it depend on how well you know the person, I mean if y’all not close like that and you just know them then does it matter? If you know them well or they’re family I'm sure it would be a different story. I wanna know your thoughts what would you do if you were me?

Double ♂♀ Standards

Can any man answer this question for me .. Why is it still possible for you to do dirt and it be ok but not ok for your lady or women period to do the same? I have never seen a more immature sex .. yes you men, you can dish it but you can’t take it! SMH I'm surprised that this is still the case on a variety of issues in many relationships.

So tell me what makes it ok for your dick to be carelessly inserted into any woman of your choosing at any time and not for my pussy to receive some attention from another man? You did it right? When you were getting yours it was all good right? But when I did it all hell broke loose and you grill me (hypothetically) about who it was and called me all kinds of whores, and bitches. Meanwhile your actions went unnoticed and no one sees you as being anything less than what you are .. a man!

I am so fed up of hearing women talk about some shit their man did and if he even had the thought of his woman out there it was cause for some heavy debate or even grounds for dismissal yet when it was him he begged for forgiveness and brushed it off as some meaningless fuck! Why is that? Why can’t a woman have a meaningless fuck and it be ok .. I mean besides lets keep it real there are plenty of woman that have managed to, in a classy way, have an affair and her man be none the wiser, all because HER MAN and his double standard having ass was out there doing the same shit .. out there whoring, skanking, fucking, screwing, being a bitch ass with some next chick .. yeah I said it ..

I’m tired of these no balls having lame ass men. And I feel sorry for the beautiful undeserving women who love them! Nothing worse than a man who won’t be a man and own up to is faults but quick to blame his woman .. you know the one who stood behind his bitch ass through thick and thin tolerating his bullshit for years on end just to be slapped in the face with some bullshit insecurities he’s having all cause he wanna fuck anything with a slit! SMH .. this has me so tight right now .. I can talk till i’m blue in the face and I still won’t understand this .. I mean I am not claiming that women are not at fault .. but I will say that at least women see things for what they are .. a man can be a whore just like a woman can .. believe that you nasty bastards!

Stupid / Funny / Loud Commercials

Commercials, we can’t avoid them. While on a walk home with my girlfriend we had a discussion about commercials that got me to thinking that might be an interesting topic .. lol .. so let me start with the obvious .. the stupid ones ..

 

Lately on the radio I've been hearing this commercial about a man who in a deep voice calls a store to advise them that he has their mannequin and that they can have it back if they pay him 1 million dollars. Now the idea itself is stupid, I admit I did laugh I did, it sounded funny but it was just stupid as hell I had to laugh .. lol but really the damn commercial is stupid and I hate that they put out these commercials trying to sell us something. Shit at least be funny, I often wonder who comes up with some of the ideas i’ve seen but then again .. I don’t really care I just wonder .. lol like the IO digital cable one .. you know the one .. “IO digital cable watch whatever you want whenever you’re able .. lol” my kids love that commercial me on the other hand see nothing amusing about them and what’s with all of their commercials having a Hispanic undertone .. I don’t get that .. freakin’ triple play .. I know they could have come up with something better than that!

 

Now there are some funny commercials, I had a whole discussion with my girlfriend about funny commercials and she dies laughing at this stupid baby commercial where the baby is singing “take these broken wings” for the life of me I don’t see what is so funny in that but i’ve never seen it so I guess I have to be there .. lol .. a coworker of mine dies laughing at the m&m commercial where the m&m’s realize they are not on a guest list but on a menu and the m&m is hauling ass down the conveyor belt to the register trying to get away .. now that’s funny when you think of it .. lol now there is a commercial that I crack up over .. the damn terminex commercial. I know, I know but tell me you don’t laugh at a big ass roach looking termite with a pizza at your door asking you to let him put it on the table .. lol I live .. that commercial is funny *to me .. lol*! All that to say there are some funny commercials out there .. lol

 

Now, the kind of commercial that I hate most is the kind that has entirely too much volume ..  you know the kind where the show you were watching was on say 15 (volume) but the commercial is on 30 and its always about the same shit .. as if to get ones attention .. those damn Extenze commercials .. shit its bad enough this shit is on during the middle of the afternoon but really does the shit have to be so loud .. i’m sure no one is buying that shit anyway .. hello VIAGRA has been out for quite some time and they don’t need no loud ass commercials for promotion either .. lol …

Teen Dating

I've been seeing lately alot about the whole Miley Cyrus dating this 20 year old and correct me if i'm wrong but she is 16 right? Don't let the bright lights and television fool you she's 16. I have a problem with their relationship as a parent. I wouldn't and don't want my daughter looking at anyone older than 15 and my main reason is because of the differences in interest!

Granted, Miley could have a very good head on her shoulders and could be one who has the will power of a nun but on the other hand she could not .. why do her parents feel that their union is OK? I was 16 once and I dated older but I didn't know any better, all I knew was what my body was telling me I didn't have much guidance by way of my parents, they were there but my mom was anti talk about sex and my dad just didn't bother for whatever reason. So I was left to make those decisions on my own. As a parent now and seeing what a mistake I made I feel some kinda way about this. I had my daughter when I was fresh out of HS I didn't have a life until I got older and there was a lot that I regret about that whole situation but my daughter is not one of them! I just feel as a parent we should at least explain to our children what it is they are getting into, what they do with that information is on them but we did our part. I would have a HUGE problem with my daughter seeing a 20 year old .. especially if I know about it.

Now if I don't know .. hell what can I do, but Miley's shit is public dude is all in the press now and I just get sickened by the whole ok Miley sure you can go out with a 20 year old situation. At 20 I think that a man has different agendas and interests than a 16 year old would. Granted at 16 a young lady is physically ready and fully capable of having sex. But that doesn't mean I want to cosign the damn deal .. I just can't get over this .. I am realistic as well and realize that a lot of shit like this might happen unbeknownst to me .. this is life. However, like I said, if I can talk her into keeping her legs closed or at least sharing that moment with someone her age I will talk blue in the face at least I did my part as a caring parent!

Another thing that kills me is the fact that her family and television make her out to be so innocent .. yet she's posing on line and in private like this:

Another issue I have is this new thing with the teen dating abuse .. wtf? Young in love and getting hit or beat up by some dude? I don't get it .. now everyone made a big deal of the Rihanna situation but that's not the first time I heard this but it's really sad that teenagers get into this kind situation when they have so much more to look forward to. Now i've never been in this type of situation but I can guarantee that as a teenager it wouldn't go down like that .. I was a nut kicking/hitting fool, I doubt it would occur often if at all after a few of those!

Pigs Eat Shit

My husband asked me last night if I knew why Muslims don't eat pork? My response was wrong but I really never knew .. and he told me it's because pigs eat shit, there own shit to be exact .. I don't know why but I thought this was funny as hell. I don't think the reason is funny but the whole thought of a pig eating shit was hysterical to me.

So in my mind after our discussion I had images in my head of pigs eating thier slop, food or whatever and the random piece of shit just laying there one minute and gone the next. I don't know why but that whole picture is comical .. yeah it's nasty but I like pork .. I dont' LOVVVVEEE pork, nor do I eat it often shit as a matter of fact I hardly partaketh in the swine but my family grew up eating pork so I do occassionally!

Anywho .. that being said I can honestly say i've never heard anything of the sort but I don't know everything .. I happen to think pigs are really cute here are some facts about pigs http://www.veganpeace.com/animal_facts/Pigs.htm I found them interesting ..

But umm yeah back to this shit eating thing .. ctfu do you really think they do and if so do you really think the shit contaminated all of their body parts .. specifically the parts we usually eat? I mean my theory is this, once the heat touches the food most germs are killed anyway. And if a pig eats it shit then it's pretty much eating the waste of the food they ate which means what .. WTF knows .. I just thought I would put that out there .. lol .. I do recall reading in the above post however that on top of being very smart pigs are clean .. and just so darn cute .. well the little ones that you can hold and bottle feed .. after that I only want to see them from a distance .. lol ..

OK, i'm sick of getting these disgusting ass pics of prom pics from tacky ass kids that for lack of a better term have no damn sense, or style for that matter.

Ok so when do babies go to proms .. I mean ok you got the pass to be pregnant in high school obviously .. now your proud of it and bringing the baby with you? I guess that kids mother was like fuck that I didn't make the baby so you take him/her with you .. lol I hear that hot shit .. now they all in the prom and shit with tacky matching outfits .. smh what is this world coming too?


What the fuck was she thinking .. this rainbow coalition shit is getting way outta control! This chick looks like she's about to take flight .. don't get me wrong i'm glad she's not half naked but the outfit or whatever you call it is a bit extra!

What mother in their right mind lets their daughter go out like this ... And wtf is up with the bikini dresses??? Did I miss the memo, cause when I went to prom every one was fully clothed and covered, now I understand that times are changing but this is ridiculous. Now it's ok to wear capes with the dresses? Really did I miss the memo .. lol?

These chicks and their dates are ridiculous. Now it's cool to dress in loud ass dresses that make no sense and quite honestly look ridiculous and borderline skanky! Is there some sort of tacky prom dress/suit spot where they live?

I have to believe that the parents are buying these dresses cause i'm sure that all of these kids don't have their own income. And if they do and this is how they spend their money lord help us all .. lol ..

I have been a fan of Joe's since the first song I ever heard, at the time I think it was "All the Things Your Man Won't Do" .. ever since I heard his sexy smooth voice in my discman .. yeah that's how long ago .. i've been hooked! Since then I've brought all of Joe's albums and have him loaded on my Ipod now .. lol

So I just wanted to take this time and show Joe some love .. I love this man, his voice is so smooth and just wonderful to listen to. which I can from beginning to end of any of his albums .. especially Joe Thomas: New Man! I love it .. it is the best work ever and i'm not understanding why he doesn't get promoted like some of the other nonsense on the radio!

Wtf is Birthday Sex??? I want sex all the damn time you dumb ass not just on my bday! And wth is Falsetto .. have you seen that boy come on .. i've heard alot of guys say a lot of things but really my husband is the only one i've ever been with to make me scream anything near that! My point here is that I love to listen to a love song that doesn't emphasis explicitely what a man wants to do! Joe gives me good listening in a subtle way that's always good to listen to!

I'm not saying there aren't other good artists out now, most of them are not as good and the others get promoted and right now i'm talking about JOE THOMAS .. ladies .. gents .. listen to this man .. he's the truth .. i'm not just a fan i'ma FAN .. lol .. I love to hear him sing and wish I didn't have to listen to my Ipod or CD's just to hear him but you know what, if that's what it takes then i'm there!

Who Knew .. then again How Could You Not?

So Tyler Perry is amazing .. not too long ago I saw Marriage Counselor, Tyler's latest play .. awesome .. definitely good laughs there, as with the other plays I've seen. He's consistent his work usually brings out unknown talents. Now I have to admit I was not initially a fan of his show Tyler Perry's House of Pain. However, something caught my attention one day and I've been hooked ever since.

So first things first, I enjoy all of the characters however, the one that I liked least was Jazmine, her character can be a bit much at times. Don't get me wrong I think she has funny moments but lose so much of the attitude and i'm there. I say this to segway into the real reason I brought her up. So I read her bio on tbs.com and found out that she initially starred in Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girl. She actually starred in that with her sisters, funny at the time I did think they look alike .. lol. But so yeah, those are her sisters and they actually have a group, they're called 3mcclaingirls .. how cute. I checked them out and they sound pretty decent, and I wish them luck. Check them out ..





Another multi-talented actress from the same show is Demetria McKinney .. she plays Janine on the show .. I actually heard her sing a bit on the show and I have to say I always assume that most of Tyler's actors/actresses can sing .. it's just something about him, he has an eye for overall talent. Below is her single "Stay," not sure when this came out of when its coming out but it's cool.



I'm gonna pull this one out of the bag, remember I mentioned Marriage Counselor .. there's one actress who appeared in the play who sounds so much like Teena Marie .. this girl can sing .. Stephanie Ferrett plays the secretary to the lead character she was good .. lol I tell you the man can find some talent, I was there she was singing .. I heard it with my own two ears .. lol check her out ..

See what I mean Tyler will find the singers .. lol I'm glad they are expanding on their careers and getting out there trying new things, I dig that they play the guitar and really wish them continued success.

Facebook

I heard today from a good friend and reliable source that according the news employers are not looking through facebook to view what perspective employees are about. Now at first I did have real concern since I am hooked on facebook, however a few things occurred to me that hadn't when I first heard this.

1) Wouldn't whoever the employer is have to be your friend in order to see what you write and your daily entries and all that good (or bad) stuff? Basically I have determined that this may not be possible unless there is some employer facebook application that allows employers to have access to users accounts even without being a friend or approved by the employee .. interesting!

2) I don't post anything (ie., pictures, quotes, or sayings) that I wouldn't say personally or that I don't want people to know about. I mean so what if I did? I would consider that discrimination if I wasn't hired due to some questionable things I posted on my own personal account smh .. is there no end to what people would do to avoid dealing with people? Needless to say I will continue to do what I was doing, being me. If they don't like it, then I guess they shouldn't be trying to read it .. nosies .. lol

3) At what point did facebook become the determining factor for employers to choose or to basically snoop around someones personal thoughts? I personally think it's an invasion of ones privacy, not only that it has nothing to do with the job. At what point did facebook replace the resume and educational experience one has? And just because a person seems to be a bit outgoing or opinionated and even perhaps potty mouthed or just down right silly does not mean that they do not know how to act in a professional manner.

Now i'm addiced to facebook, I enjoy the fact that I can connect with old friends and new ones so I'll be on facebook .. no doubt! This is just my opinion .. and needless to say from now on I will be doing just what I've been doing on facebook.. ME! .. lol hate it or love it the silly me inside is same professional scholar you read about in the resume .. always remember there are two sides to every story, including mine.

School is Busting My ASS .. lol

Why is it that I get right to the door, one step away from my degree and all of a sudden the road blocks appear? Not any road blocks that can not be overcome or those that will keep me away from my degree but the ones that never appeared before when it was smooth sailing yet when i'm just near the finish line have arrived to discourage me .. lol the devil is a lie .. lol I WILL GRADUATE THIS DAMN SUMMER .. lol ..

I decided to go back for my Masters but days like this i'm thinking do I really want to be bothered .. of course I do .. I love overcoming obstacles. I will be the first of my mothers children to graduate from college, and get a Masters at that .. i'm excited about that. Not to shine any negative light on my siblings, because everything isn't for everyone, but going back to school is something I've wanted to do for me, to better myself and to hopefully advance career wise, but oh what a journey!

So to the bustin' my ass, i'm taking my electives now because i'm done with all of my core classes and I decided to take Western Civilization, knowing that history is so not my strong point. But I wanted to do something different and not so easy .. boy was I on target .. lol I jumped in feet first and I am really feeling it .. lol but it's a good feeling. Thus far i've received positive feed back from my Professor which is a blessing considering I am really struggling .. lol but I can do it .. lol. Anywho enough of my ramblings .. be back shortly with my nightmares of a teenage prom queen blog .. dedicated to my daughter stressing me out over her upcoming prom .. lol laterz

Todays Moms

It is a fact that today's moms are different from our own mothers and our grandmothers. Is it true that we as parents today have become, dare I say, a bit lazy when it comes to our kids? Or is it that parents are getting younger and younger and they just don't know enough to raise children the way they once were.

Do you remember when society lent a hand in keeping kids straight, when teachers could actually hit or whip you if you misbehaved, or if your neighbor caught you doing something they'd whip your ass then send you home for your mother (who was ALWAYS home when you got home) to whip your ass .. and for her to make you wait for your father for when he came home. Shiiiiiiiiitt I remember, as a matter of fact I stayed in trouble so my behind was sore most of my youth .. lol

But on a serious note, I mention this because I notice significant differences in the way even I raise my children. I've always been firm and disciplined them the way my mother would me, and I make sure they are protected and taken care of as best I can. That being said I notice some of our young parents today lack patience, or interest in their kids. They don't want to be bothered, possibly because our young ladies somehow got in their heads that having a baby will keep the man .. you know .. the "keep a n*gga baby," but when the man is gone a mother is left with a child she probably didn't want in the first place!

Sad that most of our youth have lazy, non caring, inexperienced parents who don't care enough about their kids to do the job right, and it is a job. Raising kids is not an easy feat! I'm married with children and even I need a break every now and then because it is alot of work. But what's really going on with todays moms? Just a little something I had on my mind after seeing a mother bark on her daughter for what seemed to me like no big deal, you walk in the store your kids always want something, mine do, and you tell them no, simple and keep it moving. I had on headphones and heard this lady going off on her son, I hate to see that, I saw a lady on the bus one day who didn't seem like the mother of this young toddler, she was about 3 or 4 the lady is going on downgrading and cussing her out for who knows what, the little girl just sat somewhat oblivious as if she was used to it .. that's heartbreaking to me really.

So I say like Michael Jackson said .. if you can't feed the baby, then don't have the baby, and don't think maybe, if you can't feed the baby!

Bitchassness

I am so sick of Bitchassness it's like a disease .. I hate to say that it's a trait that I see more in men than women but it's present in both sexes *smh*, I don't know what's worse, HATERS or BITCHASSNESS .. this is some shit that I simply can not digest! Here it is 2009 and I have to deal with this shit as if i'm still in High School and shit .. I'm a grown ass woman .. in case it was not obvious! I'm tired of no life having mother fuckers falling prey to that bitchassness .. lol .. it's so sad to see our people go there .. really it is!

So i'm here at work listening to what seems like never ending drama from one coworker who can't seem to get along with another coworker .. so they've been on some real catty shit lately and to me it all seems so damn extra .. BITCHASSNESS at its best! Some people really need to get their damn priorities straight .. instead of coming to me to talk about that shit you worried about .. worry about the damn job you might lose cause the shit the other coworker is beating you in the head about might just be true .. so guess what .. the BOSS IS WATCHING YOUR ASS ... and here you are with the BITCHASSNESS running to me all day with the bull .. but guess what .. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK .. I could care less, I got my own damn back to watch!

Scenario number 2 .. how about a dude I work with is so nosy .. be alllllllll up in the latest gossip, always wanna know what you talking about and what's the haps but when it comes time to get up in his business dude shut down like nah ya'll can't no nothing about me .. but wait, ain't you the same dude that was just at the cooler with me talking about everyone who walked by ... BITCHASSNESS .. obviously there is some dirt there or some bones in the closet .. if you ask me it's the latter of the two .. lol

Incompetence or Plain Old Inconsiderate?

I'm trying to get my daughter to work this summer, as mentioned in an earlier blog, however my city is just as incompetent as they come, I've been running around trying to get all of this stuff done, and here we are at the deadline and I have yet to get the shit accomplished. No lie I have called the place for an appointment a hundred times, perhaps about 10 times a day this entire week .. wtf? If you don't want shit to get done or you don't want to do shit then don't get people interested and give out numbers for us to call just for you not to get back or respond .. smh i'm so heated over this!

I don't know what's going to happen this summer, everything seems to be in shambles so far, camps are closing, the camps that are open are expensive, no ones answering phones I mean this economy situation is a bit out of control and we the citizens are stuck with what's left. I don't want my daughters running the streets this summer but it seems like the only thing they will be doing!

Camel Toe & Wedgies

I absolutely hate to see someone, and this usually applies to women, with wedgies in their pants. You know the kind, where the pants are absolutely embedded in the ass of some chick walking in front of you, I hate it. It almost makes me want to check mine, or pull it out for her, it can't be comfortable .. shit it's certainly not cute! Nothing is worse than seeing a sloppy ass at that with a wedgie in it, do you honestly think they just can't feel it? I mean for the heavier ladies i'm sure that might play a factor but I have heavy friends and i've never seen them with wedgies so I don't know *smh* I have to say that I've seen this alot on skinny chicks .. I mean let me know if there's a new trend out that I should know about, because honestly when I see it, it just disgusts me .. really and if i'm not disgusted I'm smh and or ctfu .. lol either of those two extremes will typically be my response .. I know I know it's wrong of me, but I think the wedgie in itself is a worse offense .. lol



And what about that camel toe? I don't know what's worse, camel toe or ass toe .. lmao @ ass toe (that was funny). Now I don't see ass toe as often but I have seen it and in this pic especially the ass toe is there and in full effect! Again I ask is this not uncomfortable? Is this a new trend? If so I am sooooo to the left with this one!

Ephiphany

I'm absolutely not leaving anyone any time soon but I do love this song .. I heard it and was encapsulated .. thought I would share this with you. After a stressful day like I had this song makes things that much better. Being the r&b head that I am I thought this song provided the perfect r&b vibe with a twist of jazz which could be the reason it sounds so good to me. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Dancing with the Stars

Keep in mind I never watch this show, however, since Lil Kim is (still on quite to my surprise) I made an effort (well not really) I just happened on last nights episode and saw her for the first time. Now that being said I do have some things to say about the show ..

1st of all .. why is Kim talking the way she is .. isn't she a rapper? Ain't she from the streets of Brooklyn like me? Now this is not to say I want her all thugged out because i'm not, I know there is a time and a place, but for goodness sakes why is it that she sounds like a Barbie doll ... and i'm not talking a black one! This bitch gets the only makeover (breast, lips, ass and who knows what else) and somehow lost herself in hollywood .. not a good look Kim *smh*

2nd .. she can dance, I saw her performance only and it was decent, could've been better but it damn sure could've been worse, at least she's out there you know! But I will say that i'm shocked she made it to the top three .. guess Lil Kim is taking that God given talent of dancing and putting it to good use!

3rd .. do people really watch this show all the time, I mean it was just a bit much for me, like I said i've never seen the show, I'd rather watch America's Best Dance Crew .. it takes me back to my younger days and I like to see that effort and drive from the contestants you can tell they're on their grind cause they be getting it in for real .. lol ..

Last and certainly not least .. despite not really liking the show I hope the best pair wins, the one thing I do admire is the fact that monies or prize won is given to a charity .. Lord knows (as a people) need all the help we can get!

Btw .. her shoes don't match that outfit .. lol .. I wonder if they were special shoes to dance in? *pondering* Your thoughts welcome!

Atlantic City

I'm heading to Atlantic City this weekend, a little girls get a way that is much needed. I go at least once a year or twice depending on my schedule but I really enjoy being able to kick back blow some money and chill at the same time .. lol it's like the mini Vegas without the flight!

I hear the weather is going to be FABULOUS .. it's about damn time .. lol it's been nasty for ever, today was quite nice but next week is a different story. Any who if I win big i'll make sure to post a blog of me virtually screaming and losing my mind from the shock of hitting big on the nickel slots .. ctfu .. it's a damn recession I won't be high rolling AT ALL .. lol! If I don't win at all ... i'll come back and bitch and moan about how I knew better than to waste money on a two day trip to Atlantic City .. lol ..

Working Papers

So my daughter is of age to start working this summer, whoo hoo .. lol! I'm trying to teach her early how to prepare herself for the workplace, earn a living and be responsible with her funds, not an easy task I tell you trying to convince your 14 year old not to spend all her money in one day and to instead hold it for what she absolutely needs and then preserve the rest .. it seems like that message went right in one ear and out the other! *blank stare*

So here it is a few months away from the Summer and though I trust she will spend every dime on nonsense I still am excited for her to have this experience, I never worked as a teen so this is exciting for me as well. She's like up in the air about it .. lol but like I told her if you don't work you won't be getting no money .. lol .. I figured that would spark her interest .. we'll see .. and i'll keep you posted!

Tell 'Em Why You Mad!

So it's Monday and though it's a beautiful day outside there is always something to be mad about on a Monday .. for me today it's only the fact that it's Monday that has me tight .. lol! I had a good weekend and last night as I was preparing for the week, I found myself getting tight .. you wanna know why? Cause I had to come to work today. I left my kids in the house this morning, they all knocked out and i'm here working .. DAMN!

Sometimes I wish I was a teacher just so I could get a damn spring break and shit for no reason ... lol I don't even have to go no where just be off cause it's spring .. lol. However, i'm grown now and that is a distant thought or wish if you will that will most likely never come to pass, oh well.

So here I sit, mad cause i'm at work (but not mad cause I got a job to come too) but still overall wishing that I was in bed catching up on some TV I missed, or just being lazy "not working" on vacation some where .. shit can a sister get a break? lol

I'm also mad cause I got on the bus this morning on my way to work and the bastard driver act like he was mad at the world and seemed like he pulled off as soon as I got one foot in the dor .. lol .. so I get on and had to get my pass out my bag the bus is moving and I damn near fall .. lol ok so i'm being dramatic .. my point here is that some civil workers act like they hate their job, I mean it shows all over their face. I hate my job some days but I never take it out on the people I work with or the clients, it's just so unprofessional you know. Why do a job you hate? I know the market is tough right now but if you really don't like it, don't make my life miserable it's already Monday .. why make it worse!?

I think that's all i'm mad about today .. lol

Work Shit

Ok so why did I get tight yesterday over some shit someone suggested I do .. mind you this shit always manages to come from some one who is not your boss. So in a nut shell a co-worker of mine from another office hits me on email she's basically complaining that I didn't call back a contractor to notify him about something and she happens to mention that yet another contractor called her about the same! Ok fine, but WHY IN THE FUCK IS SHE TELLING ME TO CALL THEM!? I didn't answer my phone and call them back because there annoying, so I emailed one of them and called the other.

Now here's my problem who is she to suggest to me to make sure I call the contractors back? Is it cause she don't want their annoying asses calling her? I wonder, so she beefs and in anger I reply to her email but before I could hit send the bitch is on the phone, I check the caller ID it's this bitch .. so I didn't answer figuring she'd get the fucking hint that I do get busy! She calls again then replies to my nasty/nice email that I should make the contractors a priority over my boss and whatever else i'm doing .. is this bitch MAD .. I mean mad in a crazy sense .. she must be off her damn rocker .. when I see her ass tomorrow we gonna have a nice little conversation .. lmao

Celebrity Rivalry

I am just so sick of hearing about celebrity beef .. is it me or is celebrity beef a little played out!? I mean every artist has something unique to bring to the game (or not) but really must I besubject to the shananagans of todays artist? The most recent thing i've heard which i'm not completely sure is accurate is the song Keri supposedly did about Beyonce .. wtf? I know that people may be tired of her by now she been out since "No No No No No" but in contrast to other artists Beyonce really does have talent and so I feel that anyone willing to bring drama must at least match or be better than the person they are beefin' with.

New Me

I woke up this morning feeling a great sense of change and growth, not sure why but I have this overwhelming feeling that God has good things in store for me. I know in this day and age there is much to be grateful for and much to be afraid of but at the moment I am feeling neither afraid or worried, i'm good!

I had a good weekend kicked off by a day spent hanging out with my sister "BigSexy" we had a wonderful girls day out, something I admit I have to do more often. Our just hanging out days seem few and far between so i'm glad we were able to connect and shop til we literally dropped .. lol

I studied for an exam that I need to take that puts me one class closer to my degree, whoo hoo, only one class and one test to go until I can proudly say I have earned my BSBA .. that means alot to me, I have valued my education since I dedicated myself to going back and stay commited this time around, needless to say my hard work has paid off. Six months down the road I will go back for my masters, not sure just yet in what but I will keep you posted.
